General Convention - Columbus, Tuesday
General Convention is abuzz today. This is a 21st Century conference and social networking technologies are having a huge impact. Thanks to Sean McConnell who is podcasting from the conference this week, as well as Bowie Snodgrass who is taking photos a tagging them with a rather un - "conventional" folksonomy...
Progressives and conservatives seem not to matter much today, but their presence is felt. The Every Voice Network booth that I am running here sits between Claiming the Blessing, an advocacy organization for the sanctioning of same-sex unions in the Church - and CFLAG, Clergy Families and Friends of Gays an Lesbians. A couple of booths away is The Center for Progressive Christianity. Across from them is the booth for the Anglican Communion Network. Sometimes they smile at us, sometimes they don't.
Sean tells me that 125 bloggers and counting are covering the convention. Our social technologies are going to impact this convention ad the dissemination of information in ways we never dreamed possible.
I have conneced this week with many folks who are interested in (Social Redemption and the creation of Web2.0 social networking technologies that will help us to share resources. There is great buzz about the progressive movement and it's energy and enthusiasm.
As the week progresses, I will share more about things that are happening. Rest assured, all of us are working hard to make sure that the progressive voice of the faith based community is heard and honored.
Cheers,
Br. K
